Mount Pleasant Regional Real Estate Update Recap

On Wednesday, October 23, CTAR held our 3rd edition of the Regional Real Estate Update in Mt. Pleasant.  This advocacy in your backyard series allows us to bring information to you in the community where you live and work.  We had several great presenters as they discussed issues facing the town.

The major theme: Mt. Pleasant prioritizes quality of life!

Matt Brady and Edward Oswald held an informative discussion on Mt. Pleasant Made, the economic development pitch to highlight existing businesses and attract new business to Mt. Pleasant.  Mt. Pleasant is working to provide spaces and places for people who live in Mt. Pleasant to work in Mt. Pleasant.  This not only enhances their own quality of life but reduces travel time and the commuters that go from municipality to municipality for work.

Our second session was led by Lauren Newman.  We hosted a panel conversation with Mt. Pleasant town councilmembers John Iacofano and Daniel Brownstein on the challenges and opportunities in Mt. Pleasant.  Both councilmembers shared their own learning curve as new members of council.  They talked about the need for future investment in infrastructure and ways the town can grow in a responsible manner.

We heard from Morgan Bentivegna with the Beach Company on their plans to revitalize Towne Center.  Shopping trends are changing and in order to adapt to the change, repurposing shopping centers into mixed-use opportunities are an area many municipalities are adjusting their zoning codes.  Towne Center is a great site for such a redevelopment!   Located near existing infrastructure, reusing an existing space is the type of smart growth CTAR champions.  We look forward to what the future holds for Towne Center!

As we wrapped up our event, David Kent was awarded the CTAR Advocacy Ambassador Award.  David is a tremendous leader both within our industry and out in the community.  David currently serves as our NAR Region IV Vice President, on the Charleston County Planning Commission, and is a CTAR and SCR Past President.  We appreciate David and his work to promote our industry and property rights.

Join us in 2025 as we bring this series to a community near you!
