The Advocacy division at CTAR is designed to protect and enhance the quality of life of those living, working, and raising a family in the Lowcountry. CTAR’s Legislative and Committee members foster strong relationships with local government officials and industry leaders in order to effectively represent the Realtor®️ voice.

The Legislative Committee serves as the management group for CTAR’s government affairs initiatives. It oversees the CTAR Public Policy Guide and helps the Association determine its stance on emerging issues, incorporating input from members and subgroups. The committee also makes policy recommendations and advises CTAR staff leadership on solutions that align with the Public Policy Guide and the NAR Preamble to the Code of Ethics.. During election season, the Candidate Screening Committee interviews every candidate running for office who has completed the CTAR Candidate Screening Questionnaire. These recommendations are sent to the Board of Directors for final approval. While rare, decisions originating during candidate screening can be changed at the various stages of approval.
