The Advocacy division at CTAR is designed to protect and enhance the quality of life of those living, working, and raising a family in the Lowcountry. CTAR’s Advocacy team and Committee Members foster strong relationships with local government officials and industry leaders in order to effectively represent the Realtor®️ voice.
There are many ways Realtor®️ members can get involved with CTAR’s Advocacy efforts. Explore the options below to learn more:
The Advocacy Committee monitors local, state, and national issues that affect the Counties, Cities, Towns, and Municipalities where our Realtor®️ members live and conduct business. The Committee reevaluates CTAR's local policy positions through a collaborative process utilizing relevant data and Realtor®️ guiding principles on an annual basis. Recommendations are considered by the Board of Directors and approved to establish CTAR's official Policy Positions. The Advocacy Committee meets the first Friday of the month at CTAR's office in North Charleston. Please check the calendar calendar for any cancellations or schedule changes. The Candidate Screening Committee convenes on an ad hoc basis to interview candidates running for local and state offices including City Council, County Council, SC State House and Senate races. Through CTAR's streamlined vetting process and internal rating system, the Committee determines which candidates are most likely to represent and defend the Realtor®️ voice and provides recommendations for endorsement. CTAR's official candidate endorsements are approved by the Board of Directors. To see a list of upcoming elections, click here. The Candidate Screening Committee is open to all members, and we encourage participation to ensure fair representation of our geographical footprint. Sign up to join here.
