The Advocacy Division of CTAR is designed to protect and enhance the quality of life of those living in the Lowcountry by creating a favorable relationship within the government and law making bodies.
CTAR regularly works with the Lowcountry’s elected representatives at the federal, state and local levels. Not sure who is representing you? Click here to find your elected officials in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester Counties.
For information on registering to vote, finding your polling place and voter I.D. requirements, visit the State Board of Elections website here.
The Advocacy Committee helps monitor local, state, and national legislative issues that affect quality of life issues and the real estate industry, review concerns and make recommendations to the Board of Directors. They also interview candidates running for local and statewide public offices, hold an annual legislative reception, and generate funds to be used for political activities.
The Advocacy Committee meets monthly, usually on the first Friday of the month. Check for the next meeting here!

The Candidate Screening Committee convenes during election time to interview candidates running for local and state offices, including city council, county council, school board and state house and senate races.
They use the CTAR rating system to educate other Realtor® members as to the candidate’s thoughts and beliefs on real estate issues. The committee is centered regionally to ensure Realtors® interested in certain areas participate in the interview process.
