Description: This course defines the purpose of the Real Estate Settlement and Procedures Act which became federal law in 1974 and has been amended several times since. The primary purpose of the law is to protect consumers from abusive practices. Agents will learn what is allowed under the law, particularly in regard to their relationships with third-party providers such as mortgage lenders, closing attorneys, insurance agents and others.
