If you’re a REALTOR® passionate about the real estate industry, take creative approaches to problem solving, and are dedicated to a high level of professionalism, then we want you to apply for the 2027 CTAR Board of Directors!

The Board sets the strategic direction for the association, and works with the CTAR staff and committees to make sure that the association’s strategic plan goals are met.

Serving on the Board is  an opportunity to use your voice, experience, and vision to influence the direction of our association and the future of real estate in our region. Board members help set policy, guide strategic decisions, and represent the interests of our diverse membership.

Through your service, you’ll gain valuable leadership experience, and expand your professional network with some of the smartest, most innovative REALTORS® in the Charleston market, South Carolina, and beyond.

Available Positions

  • CTAR Director (3-year term, 3 seats available)
  • CTAR First Vice President (1-year term, 1 seat available)
  • CTAR Treasurer (2-year term, 1 seat available) 
  • NAR Director (2-year term, 1 seat available)

Please review the requirements for each role below.

Responsibilities of CTAR Directors

  • Represent the Association and the Realtor brand well at all times
  • Strictly adhere to the Realtor Code of Ethics and SC Real Estate Laws
  • Directors are expected to invest in RPAC and contribute to RHOF
  • Directors may be asked to serve on and lead task forces or initiatives as identified
  • Directors are expected to participate in the following meetings and events (and possibly others as they are scheduled):
    – Leadership Training (January)
    – Bimonthly Board Meetings (every other month; 10am-2pm)
    – Major Association Events (ex. Residential Market Update, Summer Conference, Community Updates, Fundraisers)
    – Strategic Planning (annually)
    – Annual Professional Standards Training (January or February)

Directors are also encouraged to attend the NAR Mid­year Legislative Meetings (May),  the SCR Annual Conference (September), and the NAR Annual Conference (November)

As a local director, you may be asked to serve as a state director. If you agree to this appointment, you will be expected to attend SCR Director’s Meetings as well as other SCR conferences and events throughout the year.

Responsibilities of the CTAR First Vice President

  • Abide by all CTAR Director responsibilities
  • Serve on the CTAR Board Executive Committee
  • Ensure that a true and complete record of the proceedings of all Association meetings is kept
  • Perform such other duties as these Bylaws may require or that the Directors may prescribe
  • The First Vice President shall have authority to make decisions regarding the implementation of administrative policies and procedures

Responsibilities of the CTAR Treasurer

  • Monitor the records of account and financial statements prepared or maintained by the Association staff and furnish these statements upon request by the President
  • Review committees’ financial activities and advise committee leadership and the Board of Directors as needed
  • Submit the proposed annual budget for the Board of Directors’ approval
  • Oversee the annual audit required at the end of the Association’s fiscal year
  • Perform such duties as these Bylaws may require or that the Directors may prescribe

Application Process

Each applicant must complete the full application. Responses will be reviewed by the 2027 Nominating Committee, comprised of current CTAR leadership and members at-large. 

The committee will conduct a candidate review meeting on August 18 to review all applicant responses and select candidates for in-person interviews to be held on August 24 and 27. 

All applicants will receive an update on their application status no later than August 19.
